Last night the Duchess of Cambridge wore a necklace and
the whole world rejoiced. So let’s learn a little bit more about the bling,
shall we?
In 1947, Princess Elizabeth of Great Britain (Lil) married
Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark (Phil). A happy day made even happier by the subsequent
avalanche of ice. The Nizam of Hyderabad was particularly ace, giving the young
Princess free rein in Cartier.
And here she is, looking like a total Betty, wearing the
necklace she chose.
Now known as the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace, the gift also included a
gone-but-not-forgotten floral tiara, mourned in full by the brilliant Order Of Splendor. Historically heavy weight and priceless it ain’t. But that’s why it’s perfect for a Queen-in-waiting. We don’t know if this is a loan from the Queen or a gift, but what we do know is that Kate is dipping her toe in the vault and that, my friends, is reason to rejoice.
Who wore it best – QEII or DoC?
Come back on Valentine's Day for a love letter to Liz!
